I recently enabled Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) on my Office 365 account. ATP includes several extra features to detect and block threats that arrive by email (or through other Office 365 avenues like OneDrive).
Today I saw this in action. A vendor sent me an invoice as a PDF attachment to an email. I opened the email in Outlook soon after it arrived, but instead of the actual attachment, I saw the note, “ATP Scan in Progress”:
I could have previewed the attachment (presumably in a safe web viewer) but instead I just returned to the email a couple minutes later and found that the scan had completed and the final PDF attachment had replaced the “Scan in Progress” message.
