The Windows security updates released by Microsoft on August 13, 2019 all contain a bug that can cause Visual Basic 6 (VB6) programs to stop working. As MCB GoldLink to 3CX is written in VB6, it is potentially affected.
Microsoft has added this note to all August 13 updates:
After installing this update, applications that were made using Visual Basic 6 (VB6), macros using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), and scripts or apps using Visual Basic Scripting Edition (VBScript) may stop responding and you may receive an “invalid procedure call error.”
Microsoft is presently investigating this issue and will provide an update when available.
Additional details in various Internet threads refer to specific cases in the way arrays are defined and used.
MCB GoldLink to 3CX 4.2.0.5 has now been tested in the following environments:
- Windows 7 32-bit with KB4512506 installed
- Windows 8.1 64-bit with KB4512488 installed
- Windows 10 1809 64-bit with KB4511553 installed
- Windows 10 1903 64-bit with KB4512508 installed
No errors were encountered in tests. However testing does not run through every possible scenario, so it is still possible that errors exist.
This article concludes with a complete list of affected updates.
